Okanagan Vintage SS Sicamous Review Wedding Vendors
Here is the text from the review: “I was recently married in Penticton (from Edmonton) and want to leave some vendor reviews for all of you brides to be. I was married July 1 on the SS Sicamous Heritage Park and it was so rad! The beach was flooded still, so we moved our ceremony to the bow of the boat and I couldn’t be happier with how that turned out. Jessie was my main contact and she was SO helpful, and I was a handful. I appreciate all the service day of and leading up to. Libbie Philips from CupCasions was incredible! DELICIOUS dairy free (my request) cupcakes and cake with a custom flavour. She set it all up and was a delight to organize everything with. Marcia of Endless Blooms made some gorgeous bouquets for my bridesmaids and myself. Along with boutineers and corsages for the mothers. I let her design them all and I was so impressed! Ken and Wanda of Okanagan Vintage Catering Company Ltd provided a meal guests raved about, what more can you ask for. Bench 1775 Winery gave us access for photographs, with purchase of a box of wine. Awesome location and not far from the boat, even with it being a very busy weekend we had no issues getting our convoy out there. Lee Watkins, was our photographer was also Okanagan based. I couldn’t be happier with our photos! Here is a sample of them as well as our locations/flowers etc.I hope these contacts help future brides, I had great service with all of these vendors and couldn’t be happier.”

Here is a Wedding Review from Erin and Colin:

Kailee + Andrew held their wedding and reception at the SS Sicamous in August 2016. The ceremony was on the bow, with games in the heritage park. Here is their review of the Wedding:

“I just wanted to thank you and your crew once again for everything this past weekend.  The wedding was a great time, and the whole crew of the SS Sicamous was very helpful in getting setup, getting through the wedding day, and also with the cleanup.  The wedding was everything we hoped it would be, and your venue is absolutely amazing.  Everyone who attended said the same thing”.

Lynn and Phillip had their wedding at the SS Sicamous in August 2016. Here is a review of their experiences on board the Ship

“I honestly can’t say one bad thing about our experience.  The boat was beautiful the staff was great! {…} so quick to get back to any questions we had… I liked that we were able to setup the night before and come back in the morning for last minute stuff, I liked that our guests got to explore the whole ship I liked the fact that there were so many different spots we could have chose for the ceremony. I loved it all thank you so much to you and your staff!!”

Natasha and David celebrated their marriage on the SS Sicamous, in the Autumn of 2015. Here is the review that Natasha’s mother wrote for us:

“Guests all raved about the venue”

Our daughter’s wedding reception was held aboard the historic, SS Sicamous in October 2015. There were 80 guests and they all raved about the beautiful, unique venue. Eighty guests seemed to be the perfect number. We had a head table and twelve rectangle tables for the dinner and it worked out perfectly. We moved the head table after dinner and there was plenty of room to dance the night away! The theme was ‘vintage glamour’ and the SS Sicamous fit the bill perfectly with the antique furniture, ladies saloon & gentleman’s quarters. We loved the different areas on the ship, that guests could explore. Guests especially loved going outside on the deck to view the moon, stars and lake. The grand staircase was a stunning back drop for wedding photos! Jessie and the staff were most helpful in assisting us before, during and after the wedding. We opted for the package where you had access to the ship on Friday night for decorating, all day Saturday and two hours to clean up on Sunday. That worked out very well. Thank you, Jessie and SS Sicamous staff! Would highly recommend the SS Sicamous for a wedding venue. It was lovely and magical! The setting was spectacular on the shores of Lake Okanagan!”

Candy (Mother of the Bride)

“Loved it! Extremely helpful staff and beautiful setting!”

“We recently used the SS Sicamous for our wedding reception and it was an absolutely perfect venue. The history of the ship provided guests with ample things to do and see throughout the evening. With so many places to sit and mingle between dancing and eating, the Sicamous was a great venue for kids and adults!

The venue will hold up to 100 guests for a sit down dinner in the ballroom which was not going to work for us. Instead we had servers wander throughout the venue serving a mixture of hot and cold eats. The ship has a full working kitchen which was perfect for our caterer to keep the food rolling out (highly recommend Brodo Kitchen for your catering needs). The ship has all of its original rooms laid out as they once were, which provided ample seating and great discussion points. The bar, although a small area, worked exceptionally well. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will need coolers for this as there is a limited amount of fridge space because of the size of the bar area.

Having grown up in Penticton and with many guests from the area, it was amazing how few had been on the boat previously. Although I am a bit of a history nerd, it is something that all locals and visitors need to visit at least once. Talking with the employees and volunteers on board provides you with a glimpse back into life on the boat when transportation throughout the Okanagan was done along the lake instead of along the roadways. All of our guests commented that they loved the venue. I am sure you will enjoy it as well!

For those looking into a wedding in Penticton, do yourself a favour and email or call for a tour of the Sicamous. It wasn’t originally in our plans, but once we went on the boat we knew it was the perfect fit!

Bo + Steff (Bride and Groom)

“Me and my husband got married here in August, and the venue couldn’t have been more magical! The location was perfect, and the staff were very accommodating.”

Barbara (Bride)

We had many compliments from our guests about the venue throughout the evening.

“Many thanks to you and your staff who all played a role on our special day. We REALLY enjoyed the SS Sicamous as the venue for our wedding. We had many compliments from our guests about the venue throughout the evening. We had guests from across the country attending and they all spoke highly of the boat, many not knowing about it or that it could be rented for events.
You and your staff were always polite and professional to deal with making our wedding planning go smoothly. On the day of the wedding the assistance received in set up and throughout the evening was very helpful.  Thanks again for helping make our wedding day special”

Cindy + Dean  (Bride and Groom – August 2015)

“Everyone loved the venue and a great time was had by all”

Karen (Mother of the Bride) – Fun Fact:  Karen was also married at the Sicamous. Years later her daughter fell in love with the venue too, and also chose it for her wedding.

Amanda and Nathan celebrated their marriage on the SS Sicamous, in the Spring of 2014. Here is the review that they wrote for us:

Loved it! Extremely helpful staff and beautiful setting!”

We got married at the SS sicamous in April and it was perfect! The extremely helpful staff made my wedding dream a reality without going over budget. Our guests love the unique venue and were able to enjoy the museum. Our guests still tell us how great a venue it was, months later! It’s located close to hotels and many great photo locations for the wedding party. We had a lot of creative wedding photos within the ship too. I’d recommend the venue to anyone!!
